ER3 Project Drivers & Background • Project Drivers • Called for in the Oil Pollution Act • Support oil/chemical spill contingency planning and response • Support response community contact and awareness (esp. large events – Deepwater Horizon + Enbridge + Yellowstone River, etc.) • Project Background • Data sharing project being piloted for the Great Lakes region • Database of equipment and personnel for the spill response community • Goals are to: • Support spill response planning • Help responders quickly locate resources in the event of a spill • Challenge: Requires active involvement of the response community • Local, State and Federal Agencies • Spill Response Contractors • Facility Operators

Project Objectives and Goals • Leverage existing EN technologies & common tools to help: • Publish a response resource inventory • Organizations, Contacts • Equipment • Skills • Discover resources • Query response resources • Analyze response resource availability • After piloting ER3 with the Great Lakes region, explore feasibility to: • Scale up for nationwide implementations • Scale out for other data exchange such as large aquatic ecosystem (LAE)
