SiC-CMB Development Trelleborg Offshore, in conjunction with other industrial partners, are developing a nanometer-scale silicon carbide (SiC) coating for our hollow carbon microsphere (CMB) product line. This material is expected to play a significant role in the next generation of ablative heat shields for aerospace applications, especially heat shield applications involving high aeroshear loading. Use of the CNS facilities is an invaluable resource for characterization of our coating development efforts. Daniel C.
