Marcos 10:32 - 45

1. Marcos10:32 - 45 32 Los discípulos iban por el camino subiendo a Jerusalén, y Jesús iba delante de ellos; y estaban perplejos, y los que le seguían tenían miedo. Y tomando aparte de nuevo a los doce, Jesús comenzó a decirles lo que le iba a suceder:

2. 33 “He aquí, subimos a Jerusalén, y el Hijo del Hombre será entregado a los principales sacerdotes y a los escribas, y le condenarán a muerte y le entregarán a los gentiles. 34 Y se burlarán de Él y le escupirán, le azotarán y le matarán, y tres días después resucitará”.

3. 35 Y se le acercaron Santiago y Juan, los dos hijos de Zebedeo, diciéndole: “Maestro, queremos que hagas por nosotros lo que te pidamos”. 36 Y Él les dijo: “¿Qué es lo que desean?” 37 Ellos le dijeron: “Concédenos que en tu gloria nos sentemos uno a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda”.

4. 38 Pero Jesús les dijo: “No saben lo que piden. ¿Podrán pasar la prueba que yo voy a pasar, y recibir el bautismo con que seré bautizado?” 39 Y ellos le dijeron: “Podemos”.Y Jesús les dijo: “Ciertamente pasarán la prueba que yo voy a pasar, y recibirán el bautismo con que yo seré bautizado.

5. 40 Pero eso de sentarse a mi derecha o a mi izquierda, no es mío él concederlo, sino que es para quienes ha sido preparado”. 41 Al oír esto, los diez comenzaron a indignarse contra Santiago y Juan.

6. 42 Y llamándolos junto a sí, Jesús les dijo: “Ya saben que los jefes de las naciones las gobiernan como si fueran sus dueños y los poderosos los oprimen. • Pero no debe ser así entre ustedes. Al contrario: el que quiera ser grande entre ustedes, que sea su servidor,

7. 44 Y el que quiera ser el primero, que sea siervo de todos. 45 Así como el Hijo del Hombre, que no ha venido a que lo sirvan, sino a servir, y dar su vida por la redención de todos”. Palabra del Señor

9. Mark10:32 - 45 32 The disciples were on the way, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went ahead of them. They were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. Taking the Twelve aside again, he began to tell them what was going to happen to him.

10. 33 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles, 34 who will mock him, spit upon him, scourge him, and put him to death, but after three days he will rise.”

11. 35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” 36 He replied, “What do you wish me to do for you?” 37 They answered him, “Grant that in your glory we may sit one at your right and the other at your left.”

12. 38 Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” 39 They said to him, “We can.” Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink, you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized;

13. 40 but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared.” 41 When the ten heard this, they became indignant at James and John.

14. 42 Jesus summoned them and said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt. 43 But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant;

15. 44 whoever wishes to be first among you will be the servant of all. 45 For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Gospel of the Lord

Oct. 21, 2012 In the Spirit of God, Jesus resolutely walked ahead of the disciples on the road to Jerusalem. They were amazed, because they knew it would be dangerous for Jesus to be there. They knew that if Jesus would just stay out of Jerusalem, he would be safe. Jesus could have taken the easy way out, but he acted decisively, even though his followers were afraid.

18. En el Espirito de Dios, Jesús resueltamente anduvo delante de los discípulos en el camino de Jerusalén. Ellos se maravillaban porque sabían que era peligroso para que Jesús fuera allí. Si nomás se quedara fuera de Jerusalén estaría fuera de peligro. Jesús podría haber tomado el camino fácil, pero actuó decisivamente, aunque sus seguidores tenían miedo.

19. Then he delivered his third Prediction of his Passion. The Son of Man would be delivered to the high priests and scribes, and they would condemn him to death. They would mock him, spit upon him, and scourge him, and kill him, but on the third day he would rise. Jesus made it very clear, that to follow him would mean that you must endure a certain amount of suffering.

20. Luego profetizó por tercera vez su Pasión. El Hijo del Hombre sería entregado a los sumos sacerdotes y escribas, y ellos lo condenarían a la muerte. Lo maltratarían con burlas, escupes, y azotes, y lo matarían. Pero al tercer día se levantaría de la muerte. Jesús lo dijo muy claro, que seguirlo a Él quiere decir que hay que aguantar algo de sufrimiento.

21. It was clear that James and John had other things in mind. Chrysostom (On the Incomprehensible Nature of God 8.31) points out that they did not understand what they were asking for, when they were talking to Jesus about crowns and rewards and the privilege of the first seat and honors even before the contest had begun. The timing was wrong. This was the time for struggles, contests, toils, and sweat.

22. Claro estaba que Santiago y Juan tenían otras ideas en su mente. Crisóstomo (En la Naturaleza Incomprensible de Dios, 8.21), indica que ellos no entendían lo que estaban pidiendo cuando hablaban de coronas y premios y el privilegio de primeros asientos y honores aun antes de que comenzara la prueba. No era el tiempo apropiado para esto. Ahora era el tiempo para luchas, contiendas, trabajos, y sudor.

23. Jesus answered: “Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” (Mark 10: 38). They said: “We are able.” Jesus told them they did not know what they were asking. Eventually, they would find out. The Holy Spirit in due time would teach them all they needed to know in the future. They obviously could not bear it now.

24. Jesús contestó: “¿Pueden beber la copa que yo beba, o ser bautizado con el bautismo con el cual yo sea bautizado(Marcos 10.38)?” Ellos contestaron: “Si podemos.” Jesús les dijo que no sabían lo que estaban pidiendo. Con el tiempo, se darían cuenta. El Espirito Santo les enseñaría todo lo que necesitaban saber a su debido tiempo. Obviamente no estaban capaces de aguantarlo ahora.

25. Now that Jesus has gone through his passion and death, and has risen from the dead, we have the Holy Spirit to teach us how this applies to us. Baptism is a plunging, an immersion. It speaks of the plunging and immersion into God in the name of Jesus. There is no other way to salvation. Jesus said: “Unless a man be born again of water and the Spirit, he will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.” (John 3:5).

26. Ahora que Jesús ha pasado por su pasión y muerte, y ha resucitado de entre los muertos, tenemos el Espirito Santo para enseñarnos como aplica esto para nosotros. El Bautismo es una inmersión. Habla de una sumersión total en Dios en el Nombre de Jesús. Jesús dijo: “Sí el hombre no es nacido del agua y del Espirito Santo, no entrará en el Reino de los cielos” (Juan 3:5).

27. It is a pledge of things to come. It is a dying and a rising. St. Paul said: “Don’t you know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?” (Romans 6:1-11). This means we have to break with the world that is full of lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life (1 John 2:16). And this has to happen often. It is also called conversion. We need it on a daily basis. That is when the Holy Spirit accompanies us as we walk the walk with the risen Christ, and talk his talk.

28. Es una promesa de algo que ha de venir. Es una muerte y una levantada. San Pablo lo dice: “¿Qué no sabes que todos nosotros que hemos sido bautizados en Cristo Jesús hemos sido bautizados en su muerte?” (Romanos 6:1-11). Esto quiere decir que tenemos que quebrar con el mundo que está lleno de lujuria de la carne, lujuria de los ojos, y orgullo de vida (1 Juan 2:16). Y esto tiene que suceder muchas veces. También se llama conversión. Lo necesitamos diariamente. Esto es cuando nos acompaña el Espirito Santo y caminamos por el camino de Cristo, y hablamos como Él habla.

29. Let us pray for a renewal of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our hearts once again. It symbolizes a decision. We must decide to separate ourselves from those who resist God’s plan for holiness. St. Peter on Pentecost Sunday said: “Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit… Save yourselves from this crooked generation!” (Acts 2:38-40).

30. Vamos a rezar para una renovación del derrame del Espirito Santo en nuestros corazones una vez más. Simboliza una decisión. Hay que decidir separarnos de aquellos que resisten el plan de Dios para la santidad. San Pedro bien lo dijo en el día de Pentecostés: “Arrepiéntanse y bautícense en el Nombre de Cristo Jesús para el perdón de los pecados. Y recibirán el Espirito Santo....¡Sálvense de esta generación malvada y perversa!”(Hechos 2:38-40).

31. To the early Christians it meant that they entered into the company of Jesus and those who witnessed his exaltation and who had experienced the power of his resurrection (Philippians 3:10). It was a stunning experience. It was deeply moving and had a profound impact on their lives. They went all over the world sharing what they knew about Baptism, this mysterious act which lay the foundation for their new way of life.

32. Para los primeros Cristianos quería decir que ellos entraron a la compañía de Jesús y de aquellos que fueron testigos de su exaltación y que habían experimentado al poder de su Resurrección (Filipenses 3:10). Fue una experiencia algo muy conmovedora. Tuvo un impacto muy profundo en sus vidas. Tal que fueron a todo el mundo predicando lo que sabían del Bautismo, ese acto misterioso que está en la mera fundación de una vida nueva.
