State assessment • The California Standards Test (CST) to be replaced by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) in 2014-2015 • Sample test questions at smarterbalanced.org • No CSTs to be given in 2013-2014 • Several schools across the state will be piloting the SBAC in 2013-2014 • The new assessments require more reading, writing, explaining (essay, short answer)
