  3. Ethics • Participate in ongoing education and stay on track with new information, techniques, and skills. • Ethically and professionally, you have a responsibility to stay informed • Always give correct information to clients about treatments and any products they may want to purchase

  4. Ethics • Principles of good character, proper conduct, and moral judgment expressed through personality, human relation skills, and professional image • Moral principles by which we live and work • TDLR sets ethical standards that we fellow

  5. Ethics Characteristics • Honesty • Compassion • Attentiveness • Punctuality • Cooperativeness • Pleasant & agreeable personality

  6. Ethics • It can be a challenge to keep those ethics in place year after year • One trait that is absolutely essential in order to reach & remain at the highest level of professionalism is COMMITMENT

  7. Ethics • Qualities • Self-care • caregiver • Integrity • Behavior & actions match your values • Discretion • Do not share personal problems/confidentiality • Communication • Customers/co-workers

  8. Do you wait until you are exhausted before you stop working? Do you forget to eat nutritious food & substitute junk food on the fly? Do you say you will exercise & then put off starting a program? Do you have poor sleep habits? Are you constantly nagging yourself about not being good enough? Are your relationships with people filled with conflict? The Self-Care Test

  9. When you think about the future are you unclear about the direction you will take? Do you spend most of your spare time watching TV? Have you been told you are too stressed & yet you ignore these concerns? Do you waste time & then get angry with yourself? Score 5 pts. For each yes 0-15 = take pretty good care of yourself 15-30 = need to rethink your priorities 30-50 = neglecting yourself, headed for high stress & burnout The Self-Care Test

  10. Summary • Ethics are the moral principles by which we live and work. • With out commitment we will not achieve personal and professional growth • The respect you get from your clients and peers, and most important, from yourself, will help you stay the course
