  14. Market Research

  15. Market Research: • Houston to promote electric vehicle • Nissan has made agreements with cities and states to build public charging stations. • Cities: Houston, San Diego, Seattle and Orlando • States: Tennessee and Oregon • Houston has approximately 4.5 million vehicles with 86 million miles per day (state statistics) • In November, Nissan LEAF and Chevy Volt will be introduced. Both vehicles utilize battery power. • ¼ carbon emission linked with cars in U.S. and president Obama wants to put 1 million electric vehicles on the road by 2015 to reduce carbon dioxide emission. • Construction of charging station will be a major issue. One study by UC Berkeley indicate $320 billion in coming decade for construction of charging stations. • Electric vehicle charging stations for San Francisco • San Francisco installed electric charging stations. The plug-in charging stations currently are aimed for electric vehicles in San Francisco’s municipal fleet and plug-in hybrids available in the city. This is a result from agreements between mayors of San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose. 16. Market Research: San Francisco gears up for age of electric car San Francisco adopted a new building code with a requirement of an electric vehicle charger for new homes and offices. One in five vehicles sold in the Berkeley area are Toyota Prius, electric-hybrid vehicle. San Jose has started reserving parking spaces for electric vehicles and installation of electric charging stations by major employers. GE and Juice Technologies co-developing electric vehicle charging device Both companies announced a joint development agreement to create intelligent plug-in electric vehicle charging devices. Device will be developed to help consumers to charge vehicles during low-demand, lower cost time period. Initial charger will be available during the second quarter of 2010 in U.S., with full scale production to follow.
