  2. 7 Steps in Creative Process • Be Prepared • Think Distinctively Creative / Critical Thinking • Yes, And… • No Blocking • More • #$@#%&#$ (wild ideas) • Critical Thinking

  3. Be Prepared • Know what you are talking about • Have all materials handy before you begin • Stick to the topic!

  4. Think DistinctivelyCreative / Critical Thinking • Brainstorming is messy! • Words have many meanings, and they should all be explored. • Country = International • Country = Western Square Dance

  5. Yes, and… • It is impossible to destroy with affirmations or positive thoughts • Don’t act on emotional abuse with comments like “That’s not a good idea” • Begin each response with “Yes, and…” • Add to, modify, and improve

  6. No Blocking! • If everyone accepts the idea, it is probably not good enough! • Good enough – isn’t • Blocking bowl • No wimping

  7. MORE!! • More than what? • More than we have • Fill the walls!! • Its easier to pare down a large list than to puff up a minimal one

  8. ?@%$&($!(loose translation: Wild Ideas!) • There is no such word as “too” • Go for the most expensive, the most outrageous, the most insane ideas possible! • Crazy ideas generate good ones • What has never been done? • do it

  9. Critical Thinking • Cherokee Point of View • Alter your direction • Pick • Just one • Package • Label pages with topic • Promote • Great ideas begin to grow themselves • Begin to pare down the list to the best ideas

  10. Most Importantly! • Have fun!! • This process should be enjoyable, not stressful!

  11. Time to look at things in a new way.

  17. Step 3 Fill your paper (or board)!! The Recorder will fill your section of the board. ALL ideas should be accepted as possible!
