  1. Understanding the difference between Water Resistant, waterproof and water-repellent jackets

  2. During the rainy season, dependable rain gear is a must. But shopping for rainwear can leave you confused, with all these terms like "water resistant", "waterproof", "water repellant" etc. And not all these terms don't mean the same! They all utilize different technologies, and you need to understand them to select the appropriate wear for the weather. What is the difference between these jackets? The main difference between waterproof, water-resistant and water-repellent jackets is their ability to stop water from seeping in. All these fabrics are developed by combining a naturally water-resistant fabric with a durable water- repellent (DWR) fabric. This combination will keep you dry on the outside and swear-free on the inside. Water-resistant jackets have a comparatively lower water-resistant feature and it's appropriate to wear them only for drizzles. If you need a jacket with a higher level of water resistance, waterproof jackets are the way to go. Water-repellent jackets provide a medium level of water protection. They are better than water-resistant jackets. What makes good water protection gear? A waterproof coat should have a fabric that is waterproof as well as breathable. The right combination of waterproof and breathable technologies will keep you dry during a rainstorm when you are heading outside. Fabrics used for water-resistant jackets Tightly woven nylon and polyester are the best water-resistant fabrics. Sometimes waxed cotton or polyurethane laminate is also used due to their water-resistant coating. Fabrics used for Water-Repellant Garments Densely woven organic cotton and recycled polyester coated with Greenland Wax are the best water-repellent fabric. Fabrics used for waterproof garments Chemically treated woollen fabrics are the most common waterproof fabrics. Trespass jacket has all the qualities that make the perfect water protection gear.
