Unit 5 High School English Learning Objectives • This presentation is intended to give students beginning their first high school English course an introduction to the term “literary genre,” as well as provide an overview of what it means to read and analyze some of the major genres. What does this address? • The Goal Statement • The Curriculum Overview, which states that the first courses in the English sequence provide students with “a background of literary genre.” • The Lit & Comp course description, which says that the course “includes an analysis of various literary types.” "Curriculum."
