  2. Characters • First, there’s Edward Tulane, Abilene, Pellgarina, Abilene’s parents, Bull, Lucy, Bryce, Sara Ruth, Lawrence, Nellie, the store clerk, and the old lady. • Edward Tulane is a rabbit made entirely out of china. Abilene is a girl around 10 years old, and she loves and cares for Edward. Pellgarina is Abilene’s grandmother. She tells Abilene stories at night, and is very wise. Abilene’s parents are not very nice to Edward, but love Abilene. Bull is a hobo that finds Edward. Lucy is Bull’s dog. She is very good at finding things, and loves rabbit pie. Bryce is a young boy, who finds Edward and cares for him. Sara Ruth is Bryce’s younger sister. She cares more about Edward then Bryce does sometimes. Lawrence is the husband of Nellie. He goes fishing every day. Nellie is wife of Lawrence. She is very old, but loving. The store clerk runs a doll store. He fixes Edward when he has an injury. The old lady finds Edward when she is outside. She treats him very poorly.

  3. Settings • There are a lot of settings in this book. Some of them are, Abilene’s house, the cruise ship, the ocean, the seashore, the outdoors, and Bryce and Sara Ruth’s house. • Abilene’s house is located on Egypt Street, and it is very tidy. The cruise ship is a ship were Abilene’s family is on vacation. The ocean is where Edward found himself when he fell from the ship. The seashore is a place where someone finds Edward and takes him to their house. The outdoors is where Bull and Lucy mostly stay. And lastly, Bryce and Sara Ruth’s house is where Edward is in the end of the story.

  4. Problem • When Edward Tulane, a china rabbit toy, is lost at sea, and someone finds him. But then he keeps getting different owners. All he wants is to get back home.

  5. 8 major events • 1. Edward gets sucked up by a vacuum cleaner and gets chewed on by a dog. • 2. Edward gets lost at sea. • 3. Someone finds him on the seashore, and brings him to his house. • 4. He gets thrown in the trash. • 5. A dog finds him and brings Edward to her owner. • 6. He gets found by an old lady and the old lady make Edward work in her garden. • 7. A boy finds Edward in the lady’s garden and gives Edward to his sister. • 8. Edward has an injury and the store clerk fixes him and sells him.
