  2. By the end of this task you should be able to: • State what a hospital acquired infection is with an example • Suggest reason why infections are acquired in hospital • Explain how these types of infections can be reduced

  3. Scenario • You are an advisor to the Emir of Qatar. He is concerned that the number of people becoming infected whilst in hospital is increasing. He is a busy man so he needs all of the facts quickly so that he can make a decision on how best to proceed.

  4. Task • You must prepare a 10 minute briefing for the Emir where you will outline the problem, explain what caused it, then suggest the best way forward. • Any scientific information you use must be explained clearly. You can include pictures and graphs. The more data the better. • Prepare a maximum of 6 slides to show the Emir.
