Melissa Etheridge, born on May 29, 1961, in Leavenworth, Kansas, began her musical journey at age eight when she started playing guitar. After studying at Berklee College of Music and dropping out, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career. Discovered by Chris Blackwell, she climbed to fame with her self-titled debut album in 1988, featuring the Grammy-nominated single "Bring Me Some Water." A celebrated singer-songwriter and gay rights activist, Melissa is also a cancer survivor, currently thriving in a new relationship and embracing life as a mother.

  2. Early Life • Born in May 29, 1961, in Leavenworth, Kansas. • She first started playing guitar when she was eight. • Melissa attended berklee Colledge of Music • After 3 semesters, She dropped out of colledge. • She then headed to L.A., hoping to find a career in music. commons.wikimedia.org
