Purpose and Rationale for the I.D.E.A Plan • Rationale for the Chaffey College I.D.E.A • To assist in the institution wide implementation of Outcomes Assessment at the course, program and institutional level and to establish a continued plan and evaluation of the implementation process. • The Process for the implementation of I.D.E.A • Training of the Outcomes and Assessment Committee on the I.D.E.A plan and outcomes bases assessment • Analyze Target Areas (Inform, Develop, Engage and Assess) with the following format • Assess - evaluate the current situation (SWOT Analysis) of the components • Target - define goals and/or objectives (long and short term) for the strategic plan • Strategize - map a possible route to the goals/objectives • Evaluate- Determine if the goals, objectives and task associated with them are achievable or have been achieved

Component #1 Inform • The first component of the I.D.E.A Strategic Plan for SLO Implementation is to INFORM administrators, faculty, staff and students about SLO implementation. • Rationale: • Combat misinformation and myths • Eliminate confusion • Highlight the college’s outcomes assessment success stories • Opens a campus wide dialog and keep everyone on the same page • Activities: • Monthly Newsletter: The S.L.O Down • Regularly scheduled reports to the deans, program coordinators, departments, curriculum committee, student government and governing board • Outcomes and Assessment website develop • Regularly scheduled Outcomes and Assessment Committee meetings • Committee membership includes representation from administration, faculty, staff and students

Component #2 Develop • The second component of the I.D.E.A Strategic Plan for SLO Implementation is to DEVELOP a positive outcomes and assessment culture and climate at Chaffey through the empowerment of the Outcomes and Assessment Committee, the creation of a professional development program and a common outcomes and assessment vocabulary. • Rationale: • Lack of a common vocabulary to discuss AUOs and SLOs and the phases of the assessment process • Lack of a comprehensive professional development program for administrators, faculty and staff • Lack of a clear mission, vision and role for the SLO taskforce • Activities: • Workshops • Discussion groups • Web based training resources • Development of mission, vision and purpose statements for the Outcomes and Assessment Committee

Component #3 Engage • The third component of the I.D.E.A Strategic Plan for SLO Implementation is to create resources, supports, and technical assistance to help ENGAGE the college in the outcomes and assessment implementation at the course, program, and institutional levels. • Lack of resources to assist in SLO implementation • Lack a common format and structure for SLO documentation • Lack of a structure for administrators, faculty and staff to ask questions and seek assistance on outcomes based assessment development • Activities: • Development of an online outcomes assessment toolbox • Creation of standardized guidelines, templates and rubrics for outcomes documentation

Component # 4 Assess • The fourth component of the I.D.E.A Strategic Plan for SLO implementation is to develop a process to ASSESS the effectiveness of the I.D.E.A strategic implementation plan. • Rationale: • The need for an evaluation of the strategic plan for Outcomes Assessment implementation to ensure that objectives and benchmarks are being met. • Activities: • Semester and annual evaluations by the Outcomes and Assessment Committee of the I.D.E.A Strategic Plan for Outcomes Assessment Implementation and modified the plan as seen fit. • Semester and annual reports on the I.D.E.A Strategic Plan for Outcomes Assessment Implementation to the governing board, administrators, faculty, staff and students.
