  1. Why MEA Attestation is important for Certificate Attestation Certificate attestation is important for getting a visa for studying or doing employment in foreign countries. The Ministry of External Affairs does attestation on documents to use abroad for education, employment and other purposes. MEA attestation is mandatory for getting embassy attestation. Without MEA attestation, you will not get embassy attestation. MEA attestationis done for personal, educational and commercial documents. There are two types of attestation. They are Normal attestation and MEA Apostille attestation. MEA Apostille attestation is done for travelling to Hague member countries. Any Apostille documents taken for travelling to a Hague member country is acceptable in all other Hague convention member countries. Normal attestation is done for non-Hague member countries. Importance of MEA Attestation MEA attestation is required if you are travelling abroad for higher studies, employment or going as a dependent spouse. MEA attestation is required for authentication purposes. It is done after the respective state attestation. MEA Attestation is done for personal documents like birth certificate, death certificate, etc and for educational documents.
