  1. CYP Common Induction Programme Safeguarding and Child Protection

  2. Child Protection and Safeguarding All children, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief and/or sexual identity, have the right to protection from abuse.Bromley Council has a duty to investigate any concerns about a child aged under 18 who lives in the borough or who is ' looked after' by the local authority, who may be in need of protection from physical, sexual or emotional abuse or from neglect. We aim to provide safe play and leisure opportunities for all the children who use our services. Everyone who works with children, young people or families in Bromley must undertake basic child protection training, and be familiar with their role in safeguarding children.

  3. Bromley Safeguarding Children's Board • Bromley Safeguarding Children’s Board (BSCB) is a statutory board which has been established as part of the Children Act 2004. It is responsible for agreeing how all organisations working with children and young people co-operate to promote the welfare of children and young people and keep them safe from harm. • The BSCB brings representatives from key partner agencies together to develop, monitor and review safeguarding procedures and practice within Bromley with particular focus on: • protecting children from maltreatment • preventing impairment of children’s health or development • promoting the provision of safe and effective care

  4. Bromley Safeguarding Continuum of Need and Intervention The Bromley Safeguarding Continuum of Need and Intervention (see overleaf) helps those who work with children and young people identify complex needs and instigate the required intervention at the appropriate level.

  5. Available training • In a bid to standardise basic child protection training across the borough, core areas have been identified, based on the requirements prescribed by the DCSF. • These are: • Signs and Symptoms • Categories of Abuse • Basic Safe Practice • Key Guidance and Legislation • How to Make a Referral • Inter-agency Work You must have undertaken basic child protection training before you can access the multi-agency training provided by the BSCB. To find out more about the multi-agency training programme available from the BSCB to those working with children and young people please contact the BSCB Training Administrator on 020 8462 8911.
