Introduction to Mrs. “Y” • 4th year teaching • University of St. Mary and Pittsburg State University • Starting an online Masters Program in January • 1 child, Bayne Michael (1 year old) • Live in Lansing • We are a TEAM! • I can not do my job without YOU! • We have to work TOGETHER! Communication is KEY! • When we work together, our students will achieve MORE!

  4. II. Expectations • Rules/Classroom Management 1. Classroom Conduct Handout: Respect, Responsibility, teammates, safe, and willing. 2. “Y’s” Buys, Quarterly Celebrations 3. District Discipline Policy (Student Agenda) 4. Clipboard for class (IF necessary ONLY) 5. Tickets and Can for prizes

Accelerated Reader • Students need to take STAR test in order to determine level. • I have that all for you tonight. • 30 mins a day (15 home, 15 school) • Rewards for tests and reaching goal • Students will be encouraged and goals will be set high in order for students to achieve their BEST!

  6. C. Homework • 1. Unfinished Work – if there is A LOT, please contact me. • 2. Spelling List • sent home Mondays, study, Pre-Test Thursday, Test Friday • 3. Study for Tests • Vocabulary; Review sheets; notes taken by STUDENTS • 4. Agendas • take home daily for signature, student's responsibility to bring to you! • 5. ALL STUDENTS MUST READ EACH NIGHT (minutes or pages) • 6. Practice Math Facts (each night 5-10 minutes) • Begin with review of addition and subtraction. • Then, basic multiplication and division EVERY night. • 4th Grade Math Skills build on basic math facts, if they know their facts then other skills will be MUCH easier!

Friday Folder/Weekly Evaluation Form • 1. Sign both and Return Monday • 2. Will include A.R. Update in order to help students plan and stay on track. • 3. Students are rewarded for being responsible, please help them be responsible.If all work is done and they bring agenda to you, please sign.

Communication (School: 727-1128; e-mail: yoakamf@usd469.net) • E-mail is best, I check it 3-4 times a day. • I am usually here early in the morning, please try to reach me by phone in the morning or expect a response at that time. • Lion Alerts: Please sign up! Free if you have text service on cell phone! Great for Snow Days and event reminders! • F. How students get home daily. • If this changes please send a note, write in agenda, or e-mail. • G. Pick up and Drop off locations and times.

  9. IV. Other Information • A. Lunch Money: • (payable to Lansing Elementary School) • B. Snacks • Every day due to late lunch. • Healthy, please (suggestion list enclosed) • Student should not need to bring water bottles – see bubbler in classroom. If there is a health condition, please let me know. • D. Bus/Playground Rules (Student Agenda) • E. Book Orders will be sent home occasionally. I will communicate via Weekly Evaluation when due.

  10. Review of MOST Important Info • Parental support • 1. Please send a note if student is getting home a different way than usually planned. • 2. Please let me know if there are any situations or health concerns I need to be aware of. • 3. Please sign up to help with projects and “wish list”. • 4. NEVER hesitate to e-mail or ask IMPORTANT questions! • Homework, WEF, Agenda • 1. Homework: Anything not finished in class during the day, Read AR 15 mins, Study Math Facts, EVERY NIGHT! • 2. WEF: Very informational, upcoming tests, AR update on goal, Behavior Review for the week. Please sign and return on Monday! • 3. Agenda: Your students’ responsibility – NOT YOUR’s! If they bring it to you and everything is finished, please sign!

  11. Here we go……… • You can always e-mail or call with questions. • The first quarter is usually the toughest as we all adjust and learn together. • PROMISE by 3rd and 4th quarter you will be able to breathe and realize that they will SUCCEED! • We have to be a TEAM!
