  2. Sixth Commandment • Éxo 20:12 Thou shalt not kill.

  3. Slowly but Surely • Whether we kill ourselves quickly (a bullet to the head) • Or slowly (poor food to the mouth) • Still counted a suicide in the books of heaven while it may still be called lifestyle disease on earth

  4. How seriously? • Pro 23:1, 2 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: • And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.

  5. How seriously? • Pro 23:8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.

  6. Which “sweet” words • Sal 19:7, 10 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul… More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

  7. Mind-Body Connection • One’s state of health affects in a significant manner his state of mind, thus the ability to keep the ten commandments.

  8. Be temperate • Pro_25:16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.

  9. Be temperate • Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; • This command enjoins complete abstinence from the bad.

  10. Be temperate • True temperance is complete abstinence from that which is bad and judicious use of that which is good.

  11. Be temperate • 1 Cor 9:25, 27 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things… But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

  12. Burning but not burnt out • We may work but we should not overwork. • Sleep but do not over do it. • Eat , but that which is sufficient for thee.
