  2. Background info • Born March 28, 1483 • Died April 6, 1520 • His mother died in 1491. • He was orphaned at the age of eleven. • He made his first work was a self portrait. www.raphaelsanzio.org Raphael’s Self Portrait

  3. Family • Mom died in 1491. • Uncle, who was a priest, became his legal guardian. • He worked as an apprentice for a master. • When he was not living with his master he stayed with his stepmother.

  4. EDUCATION THEORY 2 THEORY 1 • His father (uncle) placed him in the workshop of Umbrian, master DietroDengino as an apprentice in the field of art. • He received training from TimoteoViti in the field of art also.

  7. The transfiguration • This is showing Jesus going to heaven. • This is Renaissance art because the bodies are clothed, colors and light are used, there is a background and perspective, also symmetry is some what used.
