  1. Topic 5 PowerPoint by Ryan, Alison, Brittany, Gage and Brandyn

  2. How can I describe the role of cells, tissues and organs in plants and animals?

  3. The role of cells are to create tissue. Tissues in turn create organs and muscles. In a plant, cells make up a different type of tissues. In both, though, they create organs like the pistil, heart or stigma. The organs pump chlorophyll/blood, digest food, reproduce and create energy for the plant or animal.

  4. Name at least TWO different types of specialized cells and describe how their structure is directly related to their function

  5. Muscle Cells- They are shaped to move parts of your body and walking. Skin Cells- They are built to protect your body from the drying rays of the sun.

  6. How can I show how cells of multi-celled organisms are specialized to be able to carry out precise functions?

  7. Well first off, multi-cellular organisms have many types of cells that work on different jobs to benefit a larger cause. One group of cells works on one part, while another works on another. We will show this through a series of images for example.

  8. After working very hard to harvest the corn, now it must be shipped to other people.

  9. Now after being cut and shipped, the corn is ready to be enjoyed. This is just an example of how multi-cellular organisms are specialized to perform precise actions. In animals, it takes many different cells to just breathe.

  10. Give at least THREE reasons why multi-celled organisms have an advantage over single celled organisms

  11. Unicellular organisms have to be able to move, obtain food, reproduce and respond to the environment. • Unicellular Organisms cannot grow very large. • Unicellular organisms are limited to the surroundings in which they live. • Multicellular organisms can obtain food from a wide variety of sources.

  12. List at least TWO tissues and TWO organs and explain their role in maintaining a healthy, functional human body

  13. Muscle Tissue: Moves parts of your body and allows you to move. • Epithelial Tissue: Protects the outside of your body and covers internal structures. • Heart: Keeps blood pumping throughout your body (veins and arteries) in order to keep organs healthy. • Stomach: Digests and harbors food while nutrients are being extracted.
