  2. Climate and Temperature • Average is about twenty-eight degrees to about eighty-six degrees Fahrenheit • Water warmest by equator • Water coldest by poles

  3. Rainfall • Average forty inches per year

  4. Landforms • Many landforms lie on the ocean floor • Frequent volcanic eruptions occur along valleys

  5. Animals • Ranges from one-celled organisms to the blue whale • Marine life lives in three zones: • 1.) intertidal • 2.) neritic • 3.) oceanic

  6. Animals continued • Three types of life: • 1.) plankton • 2.) nekton • 3.)benthos

  7. Animals continued • Killer Whale • Whales, Seals, Large fish, and Penguins • Krill, Shrimp, Small fish, and Squid • Unicellular life forms

  8. Plants • Kelp is a brownish-greenish color • Kelp grows on cold rocky shores • Corral is any large group of marine animals related to jellyfish and sea anemones • Forms Corral reefs

  9. Plants continued • Sea grass is a flowering plant • Looks like grass • Not real grass • Forms underwater meadows • Grows in all water except Antarctica

  10. Conclusion • In this report you learned about the following: the oceans climate, temperature, rainfall, landforms, animals, and plants. You learned that there are three types of marine life, plankton, nekton, and benthos. You learned about the oceans energy pyramid and life zones which are intertidal, neritic, and oceanic. You also learned about kelp which is related to seaweed, corral which is many different colors, and sea grass which is not real grass that you see on land.
