Key Aspects of a Team Empowerment Session • A Professionally Facilitated session • Thorough Planning & Pre-work Sessions by the facilitator takes a couple weeks • Managers & champions define problem scope and boundaries in pre-work sessions • Team is defined and interviewed by facilitator as part of pre-work sessions as well. • Team is composed of those involved in the process, day-to-day actions, and are directly impacted by the defined problem • Empowerment Session is over a day or two … depending on size/scope of the problem • Managers & champion kick-off the session and then MUST LEAVE. • The Team is empowered to act and define solutions based on their knowledge and experiences … only things defined at kick-off as “out of scope” are “out of scope” (and typically are very limited and pre-defined during pre-work). • The Facilitator supports the Team during the session with tools & techniques for developing solutions. • At Session End, the Team Report-Out defines the actions/timings/solutions commitments for the Champions/Managers … each action is given either a “Thumbs-Up” support or in rare cases, issues preventing the planned solutions are resolved ON THE SPOT.. • Each sub-team commits to actionable deliverables over the next 6 weeks … QUICK RESPONSE FOLLOW UP with tracking by champion/managers of results
