  9. SUMMARY

  10. This movie shows how the future would be if the robots were able to have feelings and think like humans. The movie begins when a couple thinks they had lost their son because he is in coma and her husband asks professor Hobby to create a robot with humans features called David, who is similar to their son. Each robot has been created for different functions and David’s function is to feel, like humans. When their real son wakes from his coma, the mother leaves David because she thinks that she couldn’t love a robot as much as he loves her. Thereafter, David begins to look for the blue fairy to make him a real boy so his mother can love him as much as she loves her own son. By the way, he meets a gigolo robot named Joe and with his bear Teddy, they start together the search of the fairy. In their adventure the humans will try to kill them; but they survive because David looks like a real boy and he goes unnoticed. Finally, he finds the blue fairy but she’s not real and he waits 2000 years to make his dream become true. At the end, some future robots help him to see his mother at least one day more reliving his mother who was dead.

  11. CHARACTERS

  12. Monica Swinton Henry Swinton Professor Hobby Teddy David Swinton Martin Swinton

  13. Monica Swinton She is a 29 years mother married to Henry Swinton with her only son in a deep coma, with little chance of life. Her husband gave her a robot child called David. At first she refused to have it but then she accepted. Everything was wonderful until her son awoke from his coma and was taken home. After that Monica took David to the forest to destroy it because she thought that she couldn't love him like a real son. She is depressed and sad because her son is in coma. David loves she but she leaves him at the forest so she is bad and selfish with him.

  14. When he realised that his child is in a deep coma he decided to buy to his wife a robot boy which will cause a lot of incidents. HEnRY Swinton When his son is in coma instead of feeling depressed he decided to buy a robot for making his wife happy, so he seems to be optimistic.

  15. He was recovering from a coma when he found that his parents had bought a new toy. When he realised that his mother put almost as much attention to his new “brother” and their toy, he felt jealous and he managed to persuade his parents to leave David in the forest. He is selfish and bad with David. MArtIN Swinton

  16. DAVID Swinton He was the first child robot created. He was created for his mother Monica to love her forever. Everything was going prefect until Martin, Monica’s real son, comes home again after his coma. He ruined everything, because thanks to him his mother did not want him more. When he realised his mother had abandon him because he wasn't a real boy he began searching the Blue Fairy, as he tougth she could make him a real boy. Although he is a robot he loves her mum a lot. He is generous but he is too obsessed with her mum.

  17. PROFESsOR HOBBY He was the professor who created the robots with feelings of love, the person who created David. He was intelligent and created something that anyone had seen before but that had very bad consequences, because we can't create and do things against nature.

  18. Played by Jack Angel voice is the best friend and fellow adventurer. David, supported him at everything, he never left him. It is a very loyal friend, and accompanied him to death. Thanks to him David reach his dream, her mum relieves. TEDDY

  19. GIGOLO JOE Is Mecca (robot) lover, designed to be lover of women.

  20. Compareing situations Concection between the film and real life

  21. Nowadays, it´s more common to see in the news that someone has created a new kind of robot, very intelligent and useful. For example, today´s kids receive toys similar to dogs, babies, cats… but they are not real!  they are just imitations. The toys can cry, eat, and speak too

  22. ARTIFICIAL VS NATURAL

  23. The most important memory of the film

  24. One of the most important memory we keep of the film is the fact that David despite being a robot, wants to be loved by his mother and he doesn´t mind waiting so long to get it. Another scence we remember is the rejection of the mother to David because he isn´t her son and she thought that she couldn´t love a machine. Apart from that, at the end of the film David achieves his goal and the new generation of robots starts.

  25. WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

  26. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a perfect example of how sometimes science moves slowlier than we would have predicted. When computers were invented, we believed that we had ended with the problem of the mind, and that within years we would see a new race of intelligent machines. But now, we are older and more intelligent. The computers that used to impress us so much back, don´t impress us now, and we don´t really understand how hard the problems of AI really are. The intelligence of machines is called artificial intelligence and it studies and designs the intelligent agents, which are a system that perceives its environment and tries to make it go better. what is artificial intelligence?

  27. WHAT IS IT USE FOR?

  28. IT´s use for... • Computational Linguistics • Industrial • Medical • Virtual worlds • Robotics • Video Games • computer prototype • Analysis of dynamic systems

  29. WHAT IS THE FUTURE ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE

  30. In 50/100 years computers will be more intelligent than us and they will dominate us if we don´t stop them. It is a little bit exaggerated but when this happens we will be in a zoo and the robots will be outside.

  31. Examples of: sinister intimism natural catastrophe / apocalypses comic world

  32. sinister intimism The sinister is shown in the film when we see diferent kind of robots, which we are not used to see because nowadays there are no many robots. When the mother leaves David in the forest we can see how there´s a machine wich catches the robots to destroy them. That machine is also sinister. Finnaly we just can say that the gigolo Joe and the future in general is curious. We can see in the film how David loves her mum and they show this lovee by hugs for example. comic world It’s very ironic that the robots we have created are improving so much that they are becoming better than us like in the film the only ones who survives are robots.

  33. natural catastrophe / apocalypses At the end of the film we can see how the world has been iced we don´t know why and there are no humans alive, there are just some kind of strange robots.

  34. ¿Are we able to create feelings?

  35. The only one who is able to create feelings is the human. A robot can´t feel the same as a real boy, they are programmed to do things and to have some feelings but they aren´t able to feel because they are built by the human and they only can do what humans have allowed them to do. we can create something better than ourselves and in the future developments will end up creating something that will beat us and then there will be no turning back. We aren´t programmed, we have feeling and we can think for ourselves. sometimes we said that animals are programmed but we think that it is not true. Humans and animals are the only who are able to feel and to act on their own.

  36. The main idea

  37. We are fastinated by unknown things; the posibility to go to another reality, to another time fascinate us. That´s why we create things without thinking in the consecuences, only to see what happens. This film shows the consecuences of this, and it´s probably what will happen if we continue improving new technologies such as computers. In the film, humans had been replaced by their creations, they went beyond Mother Nature and ended up very badly. In addition, this film also shows the strength of love, how it overcomes everything, even the greatest technology; we can see this idea when Monica gave up David because he could affect his son and her relation with him.

  38. PERSONAL OPINION

  39. We really like the film because it shows the real love between a mother and her son and it’s the most important thing in our lives, although we sometimes forget it. The film has taught us that although technologies are neccessary we must respect the limits and think about the consecuences and we don´t have to go against nature.
