  3. What is Kindergarten Screening • Required • Hearing/Speech, Vision Health/Dental including Child find for Development Delays • In Addition • Academic, Motor Skills, Language and social skills

Kindergarten Curriculum • Preparing for Kindergarten Success: • Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies • what children should know and be able to do upon entering Kindergarten • Kindergarten Standards are what a child should know and do by the end of Kindergarten • The standards are changing and so are we • Common Core Standards • Going from A to D

  5. Kindergarten Schedules • Kindergarten • 8:35 first bell • 8:40- to 3:15 Monday thru Friday • Students are allowed in the building at 8am reporting to the cafeteria. • We do have breakfast available. • Specials are run by A B C days. • Lunch is after recess at 12:50

  6. Busing • Bus Safety • Busing Requests – P/U and drop off, change of plans by 1:30 • Riding the Bus is a privilege. • Share with your child the rules • Sit in your seat • Hands to yourself • Talk quietly (except At RR crossings- no talking • School rules apply

  7. Richland County – Lucas Library • Summer Reading Program • School reward for those who complete • Hours • Resources • AR- accelerated reader

  8. Safety Town • Handouts • Program Director- Mrs. Kathy Grover • Dates: June 4th thru June 8th, 9-11:30 a.m. • T Shirts- Paid for by Local Fire Department, FOP and FOPA

KRA-L • Kindergarten Readiness Assessment- Literacy • Must be done within the first six weeks of school • Areas: Answering questions, Sentence Repetition, Rhyming Identification, and Initial Sounds • First day of school will be the assessment day. Not a normal day. Each class will have a have day.

  10. New Assessments • KRA-M readiness in Math • KRA-SE readiness in Social Emotional

  11. School Routines • School Fees- Pay in August • Supplies • Lunches • Newsletters/Handbook-Calendar • School Closings- Radio and One call • Morning Snack • Specials- Gym, Music, Art, Computer, Library • Looking into Looping
