  1. Things I learned studying the calendar .

  2. Why study another Calendar? • I had questions that had too many answers: • What date was Christ crucified? • What year was the Exodus Passover? • Were Adam and Eve created over 6000 years ago? • These had as many different answers as there were different calendars.

  3. Why not use the Hebrew calculated calendar? • I needed a calendar that could be used as a tool for Old Testament studies. Computer programs did not exist for BCE studies. • Future calendar calculated dates were difficult to find. • Calculations were based on average Lunar month time and not actual time. • Postponement dates for the beginning of months were different than New Moon conjunctions or sightings. • Below are two internet sites for Hebrew calendar calculations: • www.hebrewcalendar.net • http://www.midrash.org/calendar/

  4. Babylonians were the first to establish an accurate average lunar month time. This was around 300 BCE. • Until Hillel II instituted a permanent calendar based on calculations (ca. 360), the fixing of the new moon was determined by observation and the evidence of witnesses. During the earlier period, the practice of adding a second day to festivals … was introduced for communities lying at a distance from Palestine, because it was doubtful on precisely which of the two days the new moon occurred.” (Encyclopedia of the Jewish Religion, p. 78; Massada-P.E.C. Press Ltd, 1965, emphasis added.) • The Hillel II calendar was based on fixed calculations, not on the visible new moon sighting as the Jews had previously done when determining the beginning of months. (Dictionary of Judaism in the Biblical Period, by Jacob Neusner, p. 454, emphasis added.)

  5. Why not use a Crescent moon calendar? • Crescent new moon sightings don’t offer the luxury of future calendar dates. • Also there is a problem of finding history of past dates. • The Bible only uses the word crescent to describe jewelry. • NLT Judges 8:26 The weight of the gold earrings was forty-three pounds, not including the crescents and pendants, the royal clothing of the kings, or the chains around the necks of their camels. • NLT Isaiah 3:18 The Lord will strip away their artful beauty-- their ornaments, headbands, and crescent necklaces;

  6. The ancient Greeks recognized the visible new moon as the beginning of the month when they celebrated the “sickle of the new moon” with offerings and meals. This was also the case with the ancient Babylonians who worshipped the new moon as the goddess Isis, and had her wearing a horns, which resembled the new moon. • (TDNT, vol. 4, p. 639, emphasis added.) • http://www.hoshanarabbah.org/pdfs/vis_moon.pdf

  7. What about finding dates in encyclopedias , books and college courses ? • I took an Old Testament college course from the Learning Company. Not only were they different on dates, the professor wasn’t sure if King David was a fable like Paul Bunyan was. • Archbishop James Ussher taught that Adam and Eve were created in 4004 BCE. Does that mean we are past the 6000 year history?

  8. A wise saying of King Solomon • NLT Proverbs 18:17 Any story sounds true until someone sets the record straight. • NLT Proverbs 18: 15 Intelligent people are always open to new ideas. In fact, they look for them.

  9. How did I start a calendar project? • The Bible often uses the term new moon. • The new moon is the first phase of the moon when it is between the earth and the sun, with its dark side toward the earth: It is followed by the waxing crescent phase. • I was able to find new moon information, that I needed. • http://www.paulcarlisle.net/mooncalendar/

  10. My first attempt was primitive. In 2001, Nisan 1 happened on March 25th. The day of the week was designated as A thru G, A being Sunday and G being Saturday or the 7th day. The column to the right is the 19 year leap year cycle.

  11. The day Christ was crucified Wednesday, April 5th, 30AD, or on Nisan 14, 30 AD. Nisan 1, 30 AD was 3 23e or Thursday, March 23rd,30AD.

  12. Nisan 1 ,30AD was Thursday, March,23rd.

  13. Passover was on Wednesday, April 5th, 30 AD. There also were no postponements on the Hebrew Calculated Calendar that year.

  14. Tuesday, April 10th,31 AD was a New Moon day. The Hebrew Calculated Calendar had a two day postponement that year. That made Passover be on Wednesday, April 18th, 31 AD.

  15. The Sign of Jonah • NLT Matthew 12:38 One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and said, "Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove that you are from God." • 39 But Jesus replied, "Only an evil, faithless generation would ask for a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. • NLT Jonah 3:4 On the day Jonah entered the city, he shouted to the crowds: "Forty days from now Nineveh will be destroyed!" • Jerusalem was destroyed forty years later in 70 AD.

  16. Conjunction Calendar is now expanded to show Nisan 1 dates back to 2000 BCE. • The calendar was now a mathematical tool. • It was an accurate calendar because it followed a nineteen year cycle of leap years. • The goal of finding the Exodus Passover date was now possible. • The plan was to find what day of the week, the Exodus year started. And then match the day of the week, forty years later, when the entry into the Promised Land year started. • The calendar was laid out on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, from 1600BCE to 1100BCE, in 40 year columns.

  17. What day of the week didthe Exodus year start? • Nisan 1, during the Exodus, was a Saturday and Nisan 14th was a Friday on the day of the Egyptian Friday the 13th. • It was said that the Egyptian day started at sunrise, and the Hebrew day started at sunset. Also the death angel came at midnight on the 14th of the Hebrew calendar, and on the 13th of the Egyptian calendar. • Nisan 1, during the Exodus, was a Friday and Nisan 14th was a Thursday on the day of the Egyptian Friday the 13th. • Nisan 1, during the Exodus, is a Thursday that is identified by the manna dates.

  18. Joshuaentersinto the promised land forty years later. What day of the week was the beginning of the year? • Nisan 1 , 40 years later, is a Sunday, and is identified by Joshua's Wave Offering in the Promised Land. • Nisan 1 , 40 years later, is a Saturday, and is identified by eating produce in the Promised Land.

  19. Not good results • The first try of Friday the 13th yielded too many matchups for easy identification of the Passover year. • Twenty-two matchups for the Saturday Nisan 1 was not going to make the Exodus Passover stand out. • The second try of Friday the 13th wasn’t any better. The Friday Nisan 1 had nineteen matchups. • The Thursday Nisan 1, identified by the manna dates, had no matchups. This was phenomenal. • I was scare off the project for two years, because each try should have yielded ten matchups.

  20. What went wrong? • Originally my calendar experiment started Nisan 1, with the closest conjunction to the spring equinox. • This was also done by the Hebrew Calculated Calendar. • Sometimes the year started so early, that the Fall Festivals were in the summertime. Besides that the spring grain harvest wasn’t ripe. • The solution was to start Nisan 1, on or after the spring equinox.

  21. Calendar now starts on or after the Spring Equinox. • Problem #1 was that this was the disaster calendar that I used for finding the Exodus Passover year. • Problem #2 was that it was possible for Pentecost to take place in the summertime. • Problem #3 was that one fourth of the years now stated a month later. • The next calendar change came about from an unexpected source. • Comparison of the time table, for the development of a human fetus, to the calendar, with God’s appointed times, offered the solution for the next calendar change.

  22. The start of a calendar year and a fetus. • The first seven days of the calendar year can start before the spring equinox. • The first seven days of a women’s cycle, she is ceremonially unclean. NLT Leviticus 15:19 • On the tenth day, a sacrificial lamb is chosen. Leviticus 12:3 • On the tenth day Christ made his triumphant entry. • On the tenth day, the egg is released.

  23. On the fourteenth day, the Passover lamb must be sacrificed between evenings. Exodus 12:6 • On the fourteenth day, the egg must be fertilized within 24 hours. • From the fifteenth to the twenty-first is the Feast of First fruits. • Within two to six days the fertilized egg attaches itself to the wall of the womb and begins to grow. • Fifty days after the Wave Offering is Pentecost. • Fifty days later the embryo can first be recognized as a human fetus.

  24. The first day of the seventh month is the Feast of Trumpets. • By the first day of the seventh month, the baby’s hearing is fully developed. Now the baby can hear and distinguish sounds outside the womb. • On the tenth day of the seventh month, the blood sacrifices are taken into the Holy of Holies. • On the tenth day of the seventh month the hemoglobin changes from the mother’s to a self sustaining baby.

  25. Feast of Tabernacles starts on the fifteenth day of the seventh month. God’s Spirit fills the Tabernacle. Believers will live once they enter the Tabernacle. • On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, the lungs become fully developed. • Nine months and ten days after Passover, Chanukah begins. This Feast of Dedication lasts eight days. The Temple or Church will be dedicated then. • Birth takes place on the ninth month and tenth day after conception. • Eight days after birth, the clotting ability of the blood, of the baby, is at its highest point.

  26. I would like to give credit to two sources for the previous information. • Del Leger, Christian Church Of God, Grand Junction, Co. (970) 249-6857 • God has AppointedTimes for all Things. • Zola Levitt Ministries • http://www.levitt.tv/media/watch/516 • A Child is Born

  27. Back to the year ofthe Exodus • A new calendar version was tried. The new year could now begin as early as one week before the Spring Equinox. • Success now happened. I had an Exodus matchup. • Thursday, Nisan 1, 1501 BCE Exodus matched up with Sunday, Nisan 1, 1461 BCE Promised Land. • The Exodus Passover happened on Wednesday, Nisan 14th, 1501 BCE. • Wednesday, March, 30th, 1501 BCE

  28. Exodus Passover is Wednesday, March 30th, 1501 BCE.

  29. Excel Calendar Chart

  30. This Calendar is a Powerful Tool. • The next project expanding the calendar spreadsheet all the way back to 4000 BCE. • I learned two things: • The Summer Solstice remained constant in the month of June. It never drifted to May 1st. • There is a nineteen year leap year cycle. It is an exact pattern of 13 month years, on the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th, and 19th years.

  31. The Big Test of Prophecy • The mission is to find if there is any matchups with the days found in Daniel and Revelation. • Then find if there is any matchups of that with the High Day Sabbaths of the Bible. • Check all days from 2000 AD to 2050 AD. • Do the work on a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet.

  32. 1290 Days, 1260 Days, & 1335 Days • NAS Daniel 12: 11 "And from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. • NAS Daniel 12:11 "And from the time <06256> that the regular <08548> sacrifice <08548> is abolished <05493>, and the abomination <08251> of desolation <08074> is set <05414> up, there will be 1,290 <0505> <03967> <08673> days <03117>. • <08548> dymiT' (tamid) (556b) • Meaning: continuity • Origin: from an unused word • Usage: all times(1), always(4), constantly(2), continual(26), continually(52), continuously(2), ever(2), perpetual(1), regular(3), regular sacrifice(5), regularly(5).

  33. NAS Daniel 12:11 "And from the time <06256> that the regular <08548> sacrifice <08548> is abolished <05493>, and the abomination <08251> of desolation <08074> is set <05414> up, there will be 1,290 <0505> <03967> <08673> days <03117>.: • NAS Ezekiel 46:15 "Thus they shall provide <06213a> the lamb <03532>, the grain offering <04503>, and the oil <08081>, morning <01242> by morning <01242>, fora continual <08548> burnt <05930a> offering <05930a>.“ • NAS Matthew 24:15 "So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel-- let the reader understand-- • Business as usual changes.
