  2. Post Study Leave • Start of Year 13 • Elite group within the school • EPQ, Committee • Attendance • Keep doing all AS subjects • Think about future

  3. Results Day • Thursday 14th August • Timing – Year 12 from 9.30am • Meetings with Mr Hand - Head of Year 13 • Decisions about A2s • Preparation for Year 13 • Step up

  4. September 2014 • Current position and what students need to do to improve • UMS scores – make sure students know current position and what they need tog et to achieve target grades. • Plan ahead - think about resits – talk to mentors • Exams v Coursework

  5. AS – A2 • Big jump - lots going on • More difficult and more work but more purpose • Need to adjust from Day 1 • Time management and organisation essential • More effective use of study time in school • More work at home • Barrier to success – part time jobs. No more than 8 hours a week.

  6. Planning for future • Importance of being pro-active - universities and careers • Mentor - key person in all of this • Summer holidays key time to start process – research essential. • Websites including heathensixthform • Open days • Ask for help

Assessment schedule • Ongoing monitoring • Mock examinations in January – last formal examinations before June • Parents evening in February • Final decisions regarding AS resits and coursework resubmission. • Begin attending AS classes whenever possible • Revision sessions begin in Term 4, including last minute sessions for both AS and A2
