Sister City Agreement between Wellington and Xiamen: A Partnership for Exchange and Growth

On June 23, 1987, a significant milestone in international relations was achieved when Mr. Zou Erjun, the Mayor of Xiamen, signed a Sister City Relationship Agreement with Mayor Jim Belich of Wellington. This partnership fosters educational exchanges, collaborations in arts, music, and healthcare. A notable initiative, the Wellington-Xiamen Paediatric Project (2009–2012), aimed to enhance knowledge and skill exchanges in paediatric medicine and related fields. Through various projects and conferences, Wellington and Xiamen continue to strengthen their ties, benefiting both communities.
