  1. ESCS Safety Back to School Night September 10, 2013

School Safety • ESCS is committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students. • ESCS staff are committed to improvement in the area of school safety for the 2013-2014 school year. • We need the ESCS community of parents and families to partner with us in the commitment to school safety.

  3. ESCS Improvements • Officers from Richmond Police Department came over the summer to assess our campus safety and provide recommendations. • Officers from Richmond Police Department provided staff in-service on school safety in August. • All classroom doorknobs will be changed to automatically locking knobs. • All teachers and staff will wear ESCS lanyards with ID cards. • All 1st-6th grade teachers will walk classes out to the blacktop after school for dismissal; Kindergarten teachers will walk classes to Griffin Hall. • Childcare staff will wear royal blue “STAFF” shirts daily. • Officers from Richmond Police Department will assist ESCS in implementation and practice of safety drills. • Revison of school policies to increase safety.

  5. Parent Involvement • We LOVE involved parents! • Partnership and communication between home & school is essential for maximized student learning. • We appreciate your involvement in matters that support the ESCS goals and safety.

  6. Always check in at the front office to receive a Visitor's Badge.

  7. All parents & visitors MUST check into the office and receive a Visitor’s Badge prior to going to any classroom, playground, office, or other ESCS location. • Expect an ESCS staff member to ask you to check in at the office if you forget.

  8. Times Parents Sometimes Forget to Check In at the Office • Dropping off lunch • Dropping off homework or PE clothes • Picking child(ren) up a few minutes early • Participating in an on-campus special activity

  9. After school, pick your child(ren) up from either the blacktop or Griffin Hall.

  10. All teachers will be walking classes out for pick up at the end of the day. • Grades 1-6 will be walked to the blacktop • Kindergarten will be walked to Griffin Hall • Students going to child care may be taken to Griffin Hall rather than the blacktop. • Please do not go to the classroom to pick up your child(ren). • ONLY exception is on rainy days.(children picked up from classroomuntil 3:15, Griffin Hall 3:15-6:00).

  11. Follow Parking Lot Safety Procedures.

  12. Park on the street if you arrive mid-day. • Drive slowly and cautiously in the parking lot. • Follow new AM drop-off procedures.

  13. Your commitment to… • Going directly to the front office to check in & receive a Visitor’s Badge when you come on campus, • Picking up your child(ren) after school from either the blacktop or Griffin Hall, • Following parking lot procedures, Will help us provide a safe learning environment for all students at ESCS!
