  1. Joshua 1:1-9(NIV) • 1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide:

  2. 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites.

  3. Life lesson #1: • There are barriers in our lives, and they must be overcome if we are to have everything God has stored up for us

  4. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.

  5. Life lesson #2: • Faith requires that we go

  6. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.

  11. 6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them

  12. Life lesson #5: • Faith does not eliminate fear • Faith overcomes fear

  13. 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

  14. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

  15. Life lesson #6: • God’s way leads to success our way leads to downfall

  16. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

  22. Mark 2:1-5 (NIV) • 1 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home.

  23. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them.

  24. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.

  25. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

  26. Life Lesson #8 • The only one who can give us the power to overcome our barrier is Jesus
