Fundamental Later Day Saints • Fundamental later day saints- also known as Fundamentalist Mormonism is made up of various splinter groups who believed they where instructed by God to keep the principle of plural marriage alive after the Mormon Church abandoned the practice • An estimated 30,000 to 50,000 people live a polygamist lifestyle in the US • Polygamy is a marriage with two or more partners most commonly known to have multiply wives to one man. Polygamy has been practiced throughout history in almost all cultures.

  3. The Church • He attends church the 3rd Sunday of every month when the priesthood members come up from Arizona to teach. • They have a priesthood meeting on Saturday, then church service is held on Sunday morning. • They don’t have a church house so church is held at his grandpa’s house. • They dress in Sunday best and the priesthood members call upon members to come up and speak during the services.

  4. Missionary Work • His church does missionary work by sending the men out to get jobs and they use their income to help build more church’s, temples, and homes.

  5. Beliefs • The FLDS religion believes in one God • Believes in having multiple wives • Studies the Bible and The Book of Mormon

  6. Marriage • When a young lady is at least 18 years of age and feels she is ready to be married, she will pray about who is right for her to marry. Then once she receives an answer she meets with the church leaders and tells them she is ready to be married. She gives them the name of the man she picked and then the leaders will pray about it and if they think it’s right, then they meet with the man and see if he is okay with it and then the man will propose. • They don’t really date before marriage normally they are married within two weeks of everything being decided. • Also only married members of their church are allowed to attend the wedding.

  7. Some other facts • At least half of the members of the FLDS church are converts and were not born into the religion. • When the husband passes away his wives are left to his eldest brother unless other arrangements have been pre made.
