  2. The TAA Scheme Consists of 2 components: • TAA 1 Activity • Permanent Teachers • Temporary Teachers • TAA 2 Activity • Permanent Teachers

  3. Purpose • TAA 1 – Feedback on teaching, advice and assistance with teaching, preparation for TAA2 • TAA 2 – Confirmation of permanency

  5. Outcomes of the Scheme • Improve the delivery quality of new teachers • Enhance new teacher effectiveness • Develop new teacher potential • Provide career development advice

Who is involved? roles and responsibilities • Human Resources Unit Responsible for implementation and coordination of the TAA Scheme. • Institute Teacher Education Coordinator Supports Teachers, Advisers, Assessors and Managers • Organising Manager (SEO Teaching and Learning) • Coordinates the activity to ensure successful completion • Reviews documentation to ensure correct completion • Forwards completed documentation to ITEC • Adviser • TAA 1 - Supports teacher preparing for the activity, conducts the activity and assists in the completion of the action plan • TAA2 – Provides support for TAA2 and comments on results

Who is involved?(cont) • Reviewing Manager In consultation with assessors and organising manager • reviews documentation to ensure completed correctly • ensures that the ACTION PLAN is completed to the required standard • provides feedback to all parties involved and forwards completed documentation to Institute Teacher Education Coordinator. • Teacher Prepares for, undertakes and actively participates in the activity.

  13. Process Notification: • Organising Manager, Adviser and Teacher (notified by HR). • Teacher MUST receive WRITTEN NOTIFICATION of the activity at least 14 days prior to the activity takingplace. Activity is to be undertaken at a mutually agreed time

Process(cont) • A pre-activity meeting MUST take place between the Adviser and Teacher at least 5 working days before the activity occurs. • Observation MUST be for a minimum of 1 hour and include an Introduction, Body and Summation of a learning session. • Adviser’s comments/observations MUST only be recorded on the ADVISORY REPORT. • Advisory report is used as the basis for the post activity discussions and the formulation of the ACTION PLAN.

Process(cont) • Post Observation meeting held no more than 5 working days after the observation. • ACTION PLAN prepared within 21 days of the observation (can be at post observation meeting). • Action Plan and Advisory Report held by Adviser. Teacher and Faculty Director receive a copy. • HR places documentation on Teachers P file to record that activity has been completed.

Advisory Report A key part of the TAA 1 Activity which is: • completed during the pre-activity meeting and observation. • MUST include all points that will need to be discussed in the POST ACTIVITY meeting and in the preparation of the ACTION PLAN. • include developmental activities that are part of the action plan must be included in the Advisory Report. • it should provide positive feedback and indicate aspects of the teachers performance that need development.

  17. Preparing the Action Plan The ACTION PLAN is a mutually agreed document. The Adviser and TEACHER should have input. Key aspects: • AREA TO BE DEVELOPEDeg. Questioning skills, Session plan, timing etc. • ACTION STRATEGIES Clearly explains what is to be done, How it will be done and WHO will help • PROGRESS REVIEWComments on the results of the teachers actions in completing aspects of the action plan.
