Factors to Consider While Selling Pets!

You may think that buying pets was difficult and that selling is easy. But, believe it or not, selling pets is as important and arduous (if not more) than buying! To ensure that the pet from your house reaches a safe, prosperous and peaceful place it can call ‘Home Sweet Home’ is the moral obligation of each and every seller! Today, there still exist some unethical breeders who run ‘puppy mills’. In such mills mass breeding takes place in less-than-comfortable environments for commercial profit. Also, the breeders breed genetically related animals, which gives rise to a small genetic pool for and genetic diseases for all the offspring. Fast paced breeding is detrimental to the health of the animal.

  1. Today, there still exist some unethical breeders who run ‘puppymills’. In such mills mass breeding takes place in less-than-comfortable environments for commercial profit. Also, the breeders breed genetically related animals, which gives rise to a small genetic pool for and genetic diseases for all the offspring. Fast paced breeding is detrimental to the health of the animal. Let’s see some factors to consider while selling pets: Questions and more questions: It is the responsibility of every ethical breeder to ask certain fundamental questions. They can include but are not limited to- Why do you want this particular pet? Are you prepared for this commitment? What characteristics do you know about this breed? What accommodation will you provide? What do you know about this particular animal? How much money are you ready to spend for the food and maintenance of this animal?  Showing the animal: In today’s world where social media is the king, selling pets never became so much easy! Once you realize about the budget of the person and that the buyer is genuinely interested, then you can send him/her photos and/or videos. These can be done via email or Face Book, Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram, and so on. There is another option where you can personally invite the buyer to your house or a centrally convenient place to see the animals or their juveniles. It is then that the buyer may decide to buy! Sending the animal/animals: Transportation is another factor to consider when selling pets! Home-delivery is easy when the buyer is located in the same city or region. However, today, even if the buyer is located in a different state or city, even then, there are lots of options for transportation like train, bus, airplane, and so on. After Sales Considerations: This is essential when a person loves his pets so much that he is ready to take care of them even though technically they are not his now. This involves healthy advice and guidance for the new owner. Also, it may involve inquiry into how the animal is coping at its new home and all factors that are needed for its comfort. A certain degree of empathy is needed here! Hunch: The seller may decide NOT to sell upon hunches like if the he feels that the buyer is going to use the animal in fights, or the animal may be neglected or abused at its new home, or simply on a sixth sense on an unscrupulous deal! Thus, as you can see, selling pets is no less extensive than buying them. Also, selling requires much more responsibility whereas buying may require more maturity! Clawpal today is committed to ethical practices in buying and selling all animals!
