  1. Why Adoption is the best route to go for pet lovers! In our lives, we, as pet lovers, always want many animals to ‘own/ rule over’. However, the fact is ‘We do not own them!’ Rather, the animals own us! Today, many varieties exist like reptiles, amphibians, dogs, cats and rabbits, Hamsters, Parrots, and so on. While, it is very joyous to own any animal, the scope of this article is to prove that welcoming a pet for adoption is an extremely satisfying and gratifying experience! Today, if we go to a Pound, Animal Shelter, RSPCA, etc we can find many a pet for adoption. Here are a few reasons why pet lovers should go for adoption Less Cost Welcoming a pet for adoption costs very less, as compared to a purchased pet or even a free one! This is because while a pedigree champion bloodline pet maybe costly, a free street vagabond can harbor diseases which can be costly to treat in the long run. On the other hand, pets in shelters are well taken for, vaccinated, fed high nutrient food, and maintained. You pet lovers will be surprised to even find purebred animals in the shelter. Research conducted has shown that almost 30% of the incoming animals in a typical RSPCA are pure bred! Adoption creates a second chance Most of the time, there is a pet for adoption not because it has ‘bad behavior’, but because there are faults in its owner. These faults can be an ongoing divorce, a shift in residence, no available space anymore, a new baby in the family, or the owner no longer has ‘time’ or ‘space’ for them. So, there are animals of varied shapes, sizes, ages, breeds, colors, in a home. So, it’s high time some pet lovers came and adopted some of these healthy, lovely creatures. Helping Stop Mass-breeding Cruelty Known as ‘Mills’, these facilities put female animals into cages and continuously impregnate them, for maximum profit in the ‘pet trade’. These animals are kept in subhuman conditions, and are put to death once they become non-productive.

  2. Adoption can preserve lives Pet Shelters are designed to keep a pet for adoption only for a short period. They also have limited space and financial resources. If any pet does not find a home in a stipulated time, that pet can be euthanized or neutered! Therefore, pet lovers can help the pets preserve and safeguard their birthright to live and to be free, by adopting them. These animals deserve a respectable, peaceful, safe life. They have been lost, given up or abandoned for too long already! Adoption prevents overpopulation Today we find animals wandering as feral and stray on our streets and outer areas of suburbs. There is overproduction of animals on one hand and shortage of pet lovers on the other. These feral animals eventually land up in pounds, where they are usually neutered. Thus, while meeting supply to pet demand, pounds help in proper timely placement of overpopulated individuals. Shelter as a Resource The animal care shelter is more than willing to help pet lovers in finding more resources for their best-adopted buddy! They have a practical everyday knowledge in caring for and catering to the needs of each and every pet for adoption. Encouraging Others You motivate other pet lovers to adopt, seeing the real fun you are having everyday! In addition, they are inspired as adopted pets are low maintenance and each has their own share of amazing personalities and stories to share! Helping out a Charity and the Community You support a charitable trust or a Non Governmental Organization (NGO). By accepting a pet for adoption, you also bear testimony to a beautiful pet, which many pet lovers will ask about for a long time. You also help the community by preventing less pets for occupying streets and becoming a nuisance to the community or littering.

  3. Advantage of Adult Adoption Adult animals are already house-trained, are trained to sit, stop or respond to basic commands. Less ‘juvenile phase’ means less falling sick, less whining, less biting, clawing. The animal personality will be clear as day and you will be ensured a WYSIWYG. A large Smorgasbord to Choose From Every year around ten thousand animals go to shelters. Hence, there are a lot of variety and colors to choose from. For those pet lovers who have never tried, we would insist that you adopt a pet, not just, because it is the need of the day, but also because it is the right thing to do! You only need to actually experience the love that a pet for adoption can give, to believe it! It is said that once you enter an adoption shelter, it is not YOU who chooses, but the once-betrayed animal that has the CHOICE of selecting a ‘human’ that promises to give him lifelong love, bliss, security and care! The ONLY thing YOU have to DO is be present at the right place at the right time!
