Intro Action….. Fraction…… And…… Teamwork! This week was loaded with fun activities and games for us to do, and they never failed to teach us lessons in each one. We learned a lot about teamwork. We applied math into almost everything, and there wasn’t any time when we weren’t active playing sports and various activities.
Health and Social Education Health and social education is an area of interaction that informs one about how they should act and treat themselves and others in a way that benefits everyone, in a healthy way. One is able to maintain their physical well-being, in direct relation to others, and influence of both their own and others. Examples of HSE are found everywhere. We found many around the school. Down below are a few pictures that demonstrate HSE:
Health and Social Education Over here we have a picture of one of our teammates reading the emergency route map in order to be prepared incase of a fire.
PE Skills Physical Education includes lots of movements and helps maintain a healthy lifestyle into adulthood. This is a subject that pushes our boundaries of things like flexibility, stamina, aim, and much more. The picture to the left was taken when our group went to City Center to bowl and skate. This particular activity tested our strength, aim and judgment. The outcomes of these activities can also be used in the future as strength, aim, and judgment will come in handy.
Team work Teamwork is one of the main topics of this week. There wasn’t a day when our activities did not revolve around teamwork. Every teammate was expected to show these qualities: communication, coordination, balance in contributing, sharing, and all the effort they can contribute. These pictures are of the two groups playing bench ball. This game requires lots of team work from all players where each of us communicated and put all our effort in our power. This activity prepares us for the future and how we should cooperate with others.
Reflection We used many of these P.E. skills as much as we could. We think we did a good job with teamwork, even with the people who wouldn’t cooperate with us. We communicated a lot as well like we always consulted one another before making decisions during the amazing race and the construction of the poster. I think the Amazing Race was a very good example of this. We always had to talk with each other and make decisions together and we used teamwork and combined each of our skills (compass, Trundle wheel, math skills, to try our hardest to win the game. It takes a lot of these traits to achieve what we really want.
Math Skills The week without walls involved a lot math skills and logic in many of the activities. This picture to the side is of one of our teammates in the amusement park in Villagio. She is using a clinometre to measure the angle of the fares wheel. This obviously included a math skills. In this day we also used other math skills to complete a math investigation that involved graphs and computer skills. This math skills can become very handy in the future if one were to become an engineer as well as enhance ones accuracy.
Thinking Skills Here in the amazing race, we had to use a trundle wheel to measure the distance between the coordinates we had to reach in order to progress in the race. It involved a lot of thinking. These skills will definitely come in handy for the future because it falls into many job categories, for example engineering, architecture, construction… Here, in the amazing race, we had to include a lot of thinking skills that included math and logic. We had to answer hard questions that requires all of us to combine our knowledge together.
