  1. Our Very Own Survey! By Brad Baird and Brock Orme (Mike is our Hero)

  2. Population- A certain grade at Juab High School…The Freshmen! Sampling Procedure-We used an SRS. We obtained a list of every freshmeat from the office. Then we numbered the boys starting with 01-95. We then used our handy, dandy Ti-83 plus Calculators to randomly select 30 boys. We then numbered the girls from 01-93 and used our calculators to randomly select 30 girls. Chosen bias- We wanted to know if having a girl ask the question would be different then when a boy asked. We Men asked the first 15 boys selected our survey question and then had our very own Stacey ask the remaining 15 to see if their answers varied. Defining The Variables (Go O.M.S.)

Survey Instrument • Bias-What is more important to you when picking a girl to date; Being cute on the outside but having a terrible personality, or being ugly on the outside but having a great personality? • Unbiased-What is more attractive; A guy who can dance, or a guy who can sing? • P.S.-Stats is the bomb.com and so is Mike!

  4. Non-Response & Under-Coverage • The issues of non-response were five girls in our unbiased survey who were not at school. We were unable to receive their answers. 16.6% non-response rate • Quick note- (Spencer’s way or the Highway) • Issues of under-coverage- We didn’t get much coverage on the girls we surveyed because some of them were not at school. We also did not cover a whole ton of guys. • Mr. Spencer didn’t respond, but he doesn’t need to!

Results • Bias- We asked- 4 boys answered they would rather have a girl with a great personality. 11 said they would rather a hot girl. 26.6% to 73.3% Stacey asked- 9 answered they would rather have a girl with a great personality. 6 said they would rather have a hot girl. 60% to 40% • Unbiased- We asked 25 girls if they would rather a guy who sings or a guy that dances. 12 answered sing and 13 answered dance. Pretty much even. 48% to 52% • In conclusion, MIKE SPENCER IS FREAKING AWESOME!!

  6. Statistical Analysis • In our unbiased survey, girls prefer a boy who can dance over a boy who can sing. However it is only by one vote and we didn’t ask enough people to draw significant conclusions. So it is about even. • In our biased survey we found that the gender of the person asking the question matters as well. Almost double the amount of people said looks were more important than personality when asked by a boy then when ask by a girl. • *Mike is not a girl

  7. Unbiased • Brock and Brad are now signed up for Dance Classes and Singing lessons!

  8. Biased • So what’s really more important? …Impressing the surveyor!
