  1. Report on AP219 Ted Vorburger (tvtv@nist.gov), Simon Frechette, Son Bui Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory, NIST Len Slovensky Northrop Grumman TC213 Meeting New Orleans, USA 20 January 2005

  2. Contents: • Project Goal • History and Status • Scope • Current Complete Working Draft - 16 Jan 05available on memory stick for review • Next Steps and Future Work

  3. AP219 Project Goal: To develop a model of information requirements for automated dimensional inspection using the principles of -STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product Data), -As described in ISO 10303,-Under ISO TC184, SC 4, which is also harmonized with other dimensional inspection standards, -DMIS – ISO 2209-Dimensional Markup Language (DML) – developed under Automotive Industry Action Group-TC213 Standards

  4. History and Status • Functioned as PWI 1998-2003 • Have been working to harmonize with • AP214 – 1999, AP224 – 2000 & 2002-2003 • DMIS - 2000 • STEP GD&T Modules: 1050, 1051, et al. - 2002 • Dimensional Markup Language (DML) - 2002-3 • 14649 Inspection Model - 2004-5 • Approved for NWI Status June 2003 • Working Draft Completed, Latest Version-16Jan05 • Working Draft submitted to ISO TC184/SC4/WG3 Convenor • Validation Report being modified at request of WG3 Convenor

  5. AP219 NWI Scope: • Information requirements for analyzing the data and reporting the results of dimensional inspections of solid parts or assemblies. Certain information used for administering, planning, and executing dimensional inspection as well as archiving the results is also required in the analysis activity. Dimensional inspection can occur at any stage of the life cycle of a product where checking for conformance with a design specification is required. • Excluded: Dimensional inspection of liquid surfaces, the materials properties of parts, manufacturing activities, and mathematical algorithms to perform the dimensional inspection analysis.

  6. Scope of AP219
