  2. Transitive Verb • Verb that expresses an action directed towards a person, place, a thing, or an idea. • Ex: Derrick greeted the visitors(object). (the actions of the verb greeted is directed towards the object visitors.) • When will Felicia paint her room(object)? (the action of the verb will paint is directed toward the object room.

  3. Intransitive Verbs • A verb that expresses action (or tells something about the subject) without the action passing to the receiver or object. • Ex: The children play quietly (intransitive). • Ex: The children play checkers(object) (transitive). • Ex: Mr. Lopez is baking bread (object). (transitive) • Ex: Mr. Lopez is baking this afternoon. (intransitive)
