  2. BEFORE YOU MOVE IN : MAKE A CHECK LIST Moving home is a stressful time, so make a checklist for every phase of your move. Tick off as completed and see your progress. Checklist is helpful in entire moving process from when you decide to move until the moment you’re settled in your new home. SET DATE Write down all the dates when any necessary repaired well be completed and store these documents in safe place.

  3. GENERAL : Check for any signs of an insect infestation, such as excrement or chew marks. Bring a cell phone charger to plug into outlets and check function. Make sure proper fire safety equipment is installed. Check to see that smoke detectors are working and in the appropriate areas. Find the emergency escape plan and make sure you know where to go in the event of emergency. Check all windows and doors to make sure they open and close properly. Try all locks to ensure they are secure. If there is more than one type of lock, ask to receive a key for each lock. Check all the lights or other electric devices are prepared. Check the air conditioner and the heater are in good and working condition.

  4. KITCHEN CHECKS: Check stove, and any other major appliances to make sure they're light up and functioning appropriately. Open and close the fridge doors and pull out every drawer. Make sure the fridge is chilly and the freezer is cold. Examine the tile for cuts, and check the counter tops for any burn marks .Open and close all the drawers.

  5. BEDROOM: Test the air conditioner on both the hot and cold settings. Pay attention for any strange sounds and be aware of any creepy smells. Look for dents in the walls, which could be a pointer of structural damage. Check for any chipped paint, nail holes in the wall.

  6. BATHROOM: Turn on the taps ,shower and flush the toilet. Make sure the water pressure is upright, run the water long enough, and make sure plumbing work properly. Check for leaks under the sink by running every tap. Fill up the sinks to make sure they hold water and drain properly. Check for any cracks in the bathroom mirror. If there is a cabinet behind the mirror, make sure the door opens and close properly.

  7. LAUNDRY ROOM: Check laundry facilities are well-maintained and see how much it costs to use them. Check the Floor for there are any mold on tiles, water leaking anywhere in laundry room.

  8. If there’s a parking garage, make sure it’s accessible and safe. Make sure proper safety equipment is installed. Make sure that the locks on the building are secure and the entry systems are working. If there is a security code need to get into apartment, make sure to get those codes. Check exterior lights work properly.
