Kennedy Center Community Audit for Arts Education: Better Schools, Better Skills, Better Communities • In November 2000, the KCAAEN developed an effective tool to assist local education, community and cultural leaders in assessing the status of arts education in their schools and school districts, and to encourage community partnerships to strengthen and expand arts education for all students. • While designed to encourage serious evaluation, it is most valuable as a vehicle for encouraging conversation and community planning in support of arts education. The Audit was updated in May 2007 and is now available as a workable pdf.

MAEC Arts Advocacy Toolkit • Created from September 2007- June 2008, this web based tool was adapted from and improved upon other successful KCAAEN state models with an emphasis on current Massachusetts needs. • It is meant to be ever changing to support current arts education advocacy efforts through low and high tech resources. • Features include: • Extensive web links, • “Tips and how to” guides, • Advocacy Event Notification, • Current Research • Sample letters, talking points and surveys • New Alerts, • And an overall model for building and marinating a network of support.

  5. How do they connect? • Both tools were designed bring various groups of people together to discuss and advocate for arts education in local communities. • Both can be best accomplished though a ‘network of support’ approach to advocacy
