  3. Who where the Vikings The Vikings lived in Scandinavia for about 1.000 years ago. They spread fear over Europe in the years from 800-1100. They had big success with building boats. The Vikings attacked brutal in the small villages, they tried to get new country. They stole treasures and took prisoners and soled them as slaves . But they also traveled around the world, as selling people. They soled jewelry and other coveted stuff.

  4. Kings and slaves There where three stages in the communities. First there where chiefs and kings. Secondly there where free men and farmers. And at last there where slaves. There where merchants, warriors and settlers. The merchants often traveled to other countries for selling and buying new stuff. Warriors sailed out to the close countries to loot and get slaves. Settlers sailed a long time to find new places, to cultivate and become farmers.

  5. Warriors and weapons The warriors believed that it was very embarrassing to die, in their own bed. It was best to die in a war. They believed that if they died in a war they would get to Valhalla. But if they died in there own bed, they would get to Hell. Warriors gave there weapons a name, a good sword where the Vikings best friend. They often gave them a name like “Skarptand” and “Skalleflækker” .

  6. Home at the Vikings The Vikings where one of the best craftsmen in Europe. When it was very cold in North, it was very important to make strong houses. They lived with there animal in the house, in the winter.

  7. Food and hunger Vikings ate two times at day, first there where breakfast consisting of oatmeal. Secondly there where dinner, consisting of fish and meat with berries.

  8. Clothes and jewelry The Vikings got a lot of clothes on to hold on the heat. The woman where wearing long dresses and aprons. The men where wearing a tunica and woolen pants. Men an woman where wearing socks and capes. Jewelry where a sympol of power of the Vikings.
