  1. CEd Service-Learning Showcase This annual event showcases service-learning student projects and students compete for awards of recognition while preparing for the university Student Showcase. Undergraduate and graduate students participate and benefit from learning about academic service-learning as experienced in various educational settings. Students are required to create posters about their projects and then present their project to a group of judges and the general public. Each student or student team shares how their service project aligns with learning outcomes for their course.

  2. Create content for your poster that best represents your effort in the educational setting. If you have questions or need assistance, contact usanytime … fea.impact@live.comIn the meantime, here are some projects that might provide some ideas! We became better acquainted with the differences between first grade classrooms in Orange and Seminole counties. We looked at the different leadership characteristics that were found in classrooms in these counties and assessed whether differences in socio-economic status, school resources, and teachers impact the leadership skills of first grade students.

  3. An example from a Junior Achievement experience – In our lessons, we read to the children as well as create various hands-on activities focusing on money, finances and reading comprehension.

  4. Our projects focused on children and the elderly in our community. We organized and supervised: an art show and face painting at local elementary schools, and a spring event for the residents of a local retirement community. During our visits, we would work with some of the clients and engage them in various mind-stimulating activities. At the end of the semester, some clients put on a talent show.

  5. Jennifer Adams Community Partners: Conway Elementary School Mission Red White and You is a service-learning project exploring citizenship, the government, and theater for social change in a fourth grade classroom. Students developed critical thinking and communication skills through process drama and forum theatre techniques, which empowered them as citizens of their classroom and community.

  6. Thanks in advance to everyone in the college for showcasing all we do in the local education community. For more information about this event please contact the Tayler Becker, FEA President fea.impact@live.com
