Old Testament Ex. 15: “I am the Lord, the one who heals you.” Psalm 41: “The Lord will help them when they are sick and will restore them to health.” New Testament Matt 10: Jesus told disciples to heal. Luke 10: Jesus tells 70 people to heal. Mark 16: Jesus says believers will lay hands on sick and will heal What does the bible say?

  3. How do we go about it? • Is there a special way to pray? • Do we have to lay hands on the person? • Do we have to be very holy or righteous?

  4. Now back to 1995 .. • I was diagnosed in May 1995 - with two girls at home aged 9 and 14, and a 19 year old in Sydney • But the Holy Spirit was working in my life, to fill all those empty spaces in my brain with peace and joy

  5. Seeking prayer • “Is any one of you sick? You should call the elders of the church to pray over you and anoint you with oil in the name of the Lord.” James 5:14

  6. A journey of faith • Healing of the body • Healing of emotions • Healing of the spirit • Which is most important?

  7. Emotional healing • Fear to be overcome - of the disease, the future, the tests • Joy and peace came through vision and dream • A bubbling joy to sustain me through more tests and scans

  8. Spiritual healing • A healing Service during my time on Cursillo Team in 1995 • Confessed sins: of pride in intellect, of doubt and unbelief in healing, and of fear of the future • Like Peter walking on water towards Jesus (Matt. 14), if I doubt, I begin to sink in fear

  9. Physical healing • Hallucinations drove me to seek prayer from three friends • Around them a prayer “scrum” formed at church • Those in the “scrum” beyond my three friends asked for total healing

  10. God’s timing … the book • Sent to publishers before I felt better • HarperCollins contact me after I knew I was being healed • Book published in 1998, reprints in 2000, 2001 and 2002

  11. Miracles do happen • I continue to feel better • Never underestimate what God does • Expect miracles and you will see them
