  2. How to form gustar • To talk about what we like, we use the verb gustar. • With gustar, we use indirect object pronouns. They are: • (A mí) me • (A ti) te • (A él, ella, Ud) le • (A nosotros) nos • (A vosotros) os • (A ellos(as), Uds.) les

  3. What are those words in parentheses? • (A mí) me • (A ti) te • (A él, ella, Ud) le • (A nosotros) nos • (A vosotros) os • (A ellos, ellas, Uds.) les They are used to clarify and emphasize WHO you’re talking about. To go through these in more detail, click here! Otherwise, just move on…!

  4. Putting it together • You can simply say: • nos gusta • os gusta • les gusta • me gusta • te gusta • le gusta For example: Me gusta cantar. = I like to sing. Te gusta nadar. = You like to swim. Les gusta comer. = They like to eat.

  5. Practice saying what people like to do… • I like to walk. • You like to talk. • She likes to run. • We like to study. • They don’t like to work. • (A mí) me gusta caminar. • (A ti) te gusta hablar. • (A ella) le gusta correr. • (A nosotros) nos gusta estudiar. • (A ellos) no les gusta trabajar.

  6. What if you want to say that people like THINGS, not actions/activities? such as: I like cats. She likes animals. He likes the movie. We don’t like the soup. etc. Careful! It matters if this part is singular (one thing) or plural (2 + things).

  7. el gato. Me gusta el gato. I like the cat.or literally:The cat is pleasing to me.

  9. Me gusta el gato.-BUT- Me gustan los gatos.

  10. el taco. Me gusta el taco. I like the taco.
