Migration to LEARN • All courses in Waterloo LEARN in W12 • ~300 courses for W12 on LEARN now • Concern about other 800 – 1000! • Liaisons have sent reminders all term (received?) • Adding info to help and communication areas • Conversions • Continue to improve conversion tool with D2L • ~40% choose conversion, others building fresh • ~10K archives to convert (3 years worth) • Training • 20 sessions+drop-ins; 450 instructors of 800 for W12
Hosting set-up • Three instances • Production system – where courses run • Test system – mirror of production, for testing settings, problems • Development system – for next version installation • D2L LE (Learning Environment), LOR (repository), and ePortfolio on each • Currently at 9.2.1, move to 9.4.1 in April
Fall term experiences • Email! Bad support experience, hopefully learn from? • Positive feedback in S11, continues in F11 • Student feedback survey running now • System settings are org wide, generally not settable at course level (different from ANGEL) • Roles/permissions still getting scrutiny • Roster updates now running 5 x per day
Next steps • More prep for W12 and beyond • Migrations • Upgrade in April 2012 • Integrations • Maple TA, Web conferencing, clickers (by vendor) • Grades to Quest • Retention schedule on hosted site • ANGEL renewal to May 2013
