Los dos comienzos del año nuevo judío • Para el inicio del año hebreo hay dos criterios: según la Torá, el mes de nisán (por marzo-abril) será el primero de los meses del año (Shemot Éxodo 12.2). Pero posteriormente la tradición judía ha establecido el comienzo del año en el mes hebreo de tishrei (por septiembre-octubre), cuando se festeja el Año Nuevo Judío o Rosh Hashaná, por considerárselo el mes en que Dios creó el mundo y es a partir de esta celebración cuando se cuentan los años

  3. Costumbres: • Se toca el shofar, el sonido  llama a los judíos a la meditación, al autoanálisis y al arrepentimiento. • Se come manzana con miel, pescado y granada entre otros frutos. • Se va al templo.

  4. Yamim Noraim • Rosh Hashaná, junto con Yom Kippur (Día del Perdón), forman en la tradición judía una unidad llamada Yamim Noraim (Días Temibles), por ser el momento en que Dios juzga al mundo y decreta lo que sucederá en el transcurso del nuevo año.
