Additional Items To Consider • Is there a pool of competent executive level consultants in your community? • What type of support services will you offer your clients? • What type of nonprofit organizations will you offer the services to? • Do you have outside funding sources to tap into for capacity building?

  4. Infrastructure • Recruitment of Volunteers to assist in the creation of processes and procedures (don’t go it alone) • Build a Business Plan/Strategic Plan • Develop a Consultant Manual (contains all forms, documents, etc.) • Create a Consultant orientation process

INTRODUCTION • BEACON is the management consulting arm of Senior Volunteer Services, Inc. • BEACON is a member of Executive Service Corps Affiliate Network (ESCAN). • BEACON is an association of successful executives offering free consulting services to the nonprofit community. • BEACON consultants have extensive real world experience and are qualified to help you and your organization meet the challenges of managing and growing a successful nonprofit business in today’s challenging environment.

  9. OUR MISSION To help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of nonprofit organizations in Broward County by making available to them free consulting services of qualified active and retired executives and professionals.

QUALIFIED VOLUNTEER CONSULTANTS • BEACON carefully screens consultants to ensure that they have the talent and professionalism needed to make meaningful contributions. • Consultants participate in training to fully understand the role of being a consultant. • Consultants work conforms to specific professional standards established by BEACON.

BEACON’S PRINCIPLES AND STANDARDS • Will provide services that meet professional standards. • Will only take on assignments that it is qualified to handle. • Will avoid conflict of interest situations. • Will only make recommendations relevant to the assignment. • Will not accept fees/honoraria for services. • Will keep all client information confidential.

HOW THE CONSULTING PROCESS WORKS • Client sends a request to BEACON that outlines areas to be reviewed. • BEACON appoints lead and associate consultants with the appropriate skill level for the assignment. • BEACON performs a client needs assessment. • BEACON develops a consulting agreement based on the results of the needs assessment. • BEACON and the client work together to build a work plan. • BEACON and client work together until conclusion of the project.

ILLUSTRATIVE PROJECTS • AN ORGANIZATION SERVING THE HARD OF HEARING For a newly appointed Executive Director, BEACON consultants facilitated development of a 1-3 year Business Plan to provide a roadmap for action. • AN ORGANIZATION PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES TO FAMILES IN NEED This agency sought our assistance to help develop a marketing plan for a case management service to elderly persons that was not meeting its goals.
