  1. Infrastructure Launch 2013

  2. This year the BNSDP Infrastructure took place over three (3) days. Day 1 was dedicated to the Sports and Debating Tournament, while the following two days saw communities gather at the nine schools to celebrate the infrastructure each school received due to their good performance in the 2012 grade 12 exams and ANA results. Infrastructure included mathematics laboratories for the primary school and physical and life laboratories, libraries and computer centres for high schools. At the Sports Tournament, the BNSDP schools participated in games of netball and soccer. The strong August wind could not dampen spirits and the games continued. Thalabodiba Secondary School walked away as champions after winning the soccer tournament and the Mohato Secondary School girls did their school proud by snatching the first prize. Schools debated over the topic ‘Is the grade 12 pass fully dependent on the kind of teacher learners have?’ and the Khetha Tsebo Secondary School team took the trophy. The second day of the launch was a festive affair; guests and communities were treated to music items, drum majorettes and beautifully decorated halls and classes. Excitement was in the air with the locals waving at the convoy as it passed from school to school and although the Minister of Basic Education and the Free State MEC were present, the community showed the same enthusiasm to the BNSDP Infrastructure Launch guests. The last day of the launch started off at Makgabane, a school high up in the mountains and very close to the Lesotho border. Braving the cold, the programme commenced and the infrastructure was viewed and learners confidently demonstrated science experiments to the eager crowd. The entourage travelled to three more schools and at Nkarabeng Secondary School, the Beautification and Cleanliness prizes were awarded to Nkarabeng (they came second place) and Makeneng Primary School took first prize.
