  1. Finding the Area of Geometric Figures Unit 7

  2. Area of a Square/Rectangle Length x width Ex. 1 Area = 15 x 5 Area = 75 cm2 Length x width Ex. 2 Area = 6 x 6 Area = 36 cm2 15 cm 5 cm 6 cm

  3. Area of a Triangle A Triangle is half of a square or rectangle. Area of a square/rectangle is length x width, Area of a triangle is length x width ÷ 2 Instead of calling the dimension length and width, we change them to base and height. Area = ½ x base x height.

  4. Examples Ex 1. 12 cm Area = ½ base x height Area = ½ (12) (10) Area = (6) (10) Area = 60 cm2 Ex. 2 22.8 cm Area = ½ base x height Area = ½(18)(14) Area = (9)(14) Area = 126 cm2 10 cm 14 cm 18 cm

  5. Video Area of polygons

  6. Area of a parallelogram Just like a rectangle height Base X height base
