Aiming to support…. • VCS representatives feel confident about their role and ability to influence the board, with clear connections to the wider VCS • Healthwatch representatives have clear connections to the wider VCS, especially in areas where there is no VCS representative • The wider VCS understands how to reach the health and wellbeing board to influence strategy in their local area, including through the JSNA • VCS feels engaged with the work of the health and wellbeing board • The JSNA more accurately reflects the needs and assets within the community… impacting on strategy and commissioning (and eventually outcomes for communities)
How: • Link local to local- in regions and across country • Link policy and practice • Gather evidence and champion VCS • Support networks in each region • Ebulletins • Resources/training as requested • Surveys • Online forum
Linking with other projects • For HWBs- using different types of evidence for the JSNA • Webinar about JSNA and the VCS • For the VCS- the collection and use of data and evidence
Existing Resources • Working With the VCS: A Guide For Health And Wellbeing Boards • Influencing Local Commissioning for Health and Care Guidance for the Voluntary and Community Sector • Case studies- different models of engagement with VCS • Links to guidance for specific parts of the sector • Who’s Who Guides in the regions http://www.regionalvoices.org/health-wellbeing
Your project to shape… • Interesting/good practice • support for the local VCS and Healthwatch to engage with the work of the health and wellbeing board • linking with communities to develop the JSNA • developing the joint health and wellbeing strategy • What challenges are there to raising VCS & healthwatch issues with the health and wellbeing board? • What support do you need to be effective in your role as VCS or Healthwatch representative?
