Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Bible Students • They “searched the Scriptures” • They loved the Scripture • They wanted to hear it & to know it • “They received the word” • They welcomed & embraced it • Are you a Bible student?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Diligent Students • They “searched the Scriptures” • This present tense Greek word means: • Thoroughly examine, investigate • Sift evidence, making careful and exact research as in legal processes • Luke 23:14; Acts 4:9; 12:19 • How thoroughly do you examine it?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Honest Students • They “searched the Scriptures to see” • Not to prove a preconceived notion • But “whether these things were so” • Knew not all teaching was or is “so” • Trusted Scriptures as the sole source of true knowledge and authority • What motivation do you have in study?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Regular Students • They “searched the Scriptures daily” • “Daily” was not hyperbole but literal. • Paul taught daily • Noble-minded students went daily, listened daily and searched daily • Not weekly, not Sun-daily • Did they need it more than we do? • Do you investigate Scripture every day?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Prepared Students • They received “with all readiness of mind” • Lit, received with all forward mind • Stretching mind forward to learn • An eager mind, rushing forward • Followed example of Ezra (Ezra 7:10) • How eager and forward are you in study?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Rewarded Students • “Therefore many of them believed” • Result of open hearts +open Bible • Many responded • Not all, but not “some” (like in v. 4) • Received & obeyed like Acts 2:41 • True faith & leads to obedience • Will you be rewarded by your study?
What Kind of Student Are You? Noble-minded, with open heart? Daily combining that with open Bible? Diligent & honest in your study? Eager & obedient in your study? If not, you will not be rewarded!
