  2. To Be a Loving Church • We need a genuine love for God • Mark 12:30

  3. Mark 12:30 “AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'”

  4. To Be a Loving Church • We need a genuine love for God • We need to love the Lord, Jesus Christ who died for us • John 15:12-14

  5. John 15:12-14 "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. 14You are My friends if you do what I command you."

  6. To Be a Loving Church • We need love for the truth.

  7. Proverbs 23:23 “Buy truth, and do not sell it, Get wisdom and instruction and understanding.”

  8. Ephesians 4:14-15 “As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all {aspects} into Him who is the head, {even} Christ,”

  9. To Be a Loving Church • We need love for the truth. • The church is the pillar and ground of the truth – 1 Tim. 3:15 • Let us continue to defend, uphold, and proclaim the truth.

  10. To Be a Loving Church • We need love for one another • 1 Peter 1:22 “Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,”

  11. To Be a Loving Church • We need love for one another • It would be terrible to have no one who cared for our soul • Psalm 142:4 “Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul.”

  12. To Be a Loving Church • We need love for one another • Love is a means of identifying the true disciples

  13. John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

  14. To Be a Loving Church • We need love for one another • If we love one another, God dwells in us

  15. 1 John 4:12 “No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.”

  16. To Be a Loving Church • We need love for one another • If we love one another, God dwells in us • The one who does not love his brother abides in death • 1 John 3:14-16

  17. 1 John 3:14-16 “We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. …”

  19. To be a Loyal Church • We need to be loyal in attitude. • We must avoid the attitude of indifference • Rev. 3:15-16

  20. Revelation 3:15-16 “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.”

  21. To be a Loyal Church • We need to be loyal in attitude. • We must avoid the attitude of self-righteousness • Luke 18:9-14

  22. Luke 18:9-14 “And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: 10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. …”

  23. Luke 18:9-14 “… 11 "The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 'I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.' …”

  26. To be a Loyal Church • We need to be loyal in attitude. • We must avoid the attitude of constant condemnation

  27. Matthew 7:1-5 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. …”

  28. Matthew 7:1-5 “… 3 "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?…”

  32. To be a Loyal Church • We need to be loyal in attendance • Disciples of Christ assemble together

  33. Acts 11:26 “And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”

  34. To be a Loyal Church • We need to be loyal in attendance. • Forsaking the assemblies carries serious consequences • Heb. 10:25-27

  35. Hebrews 10:25-27 “not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.…”

  36. Hebrews 10:25-27 “… 26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, …”

  37. Hebrews 10:25-27 “… 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.”

  38. To be a Loyal Church • We need to be loyal in stewardship • Every member has a function, a place, and a part.

  39. 1 Corinthians 12:20-22 “But now there are many members, but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; or again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." …”

  40. 1 Corinthians 12:20-22 “… 22 On the contrary, it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary;”

  41. Ephesians 4:16 “from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.”

  42. To be a Laboring Church • By works, our faith is made perfect • James 2:22 “You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected;”

  43. To be a Laboring Church • We need to labor in the interest of saving souls. • The Lord Jesus came to save souls, and we need to diligently follow Him in His work

  44. 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not {in} vain in the Lord.”

  45. To be a Laboring Church • We need to labor in the interest of saving souls. • This is an area where we definitely need improvement.

  46. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 “For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law; …”

  47. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 “… 21 to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak;…”

  48. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 “… I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. 23 I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.”

  49. The same method will not work with all people… but the same Gospel will always work
